In the quiet, rugged terrain of Samburu County, a bold revolution is underway—led not with protests or politics, but through education, love, and relentless hope. At the heart of this movement is the Father CK Foundation, in partnership with the Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri, working to change the lives of girls who have fled from the grip of harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage.

A Safe Haven in Suguta Marmar
The SMI Girls Rescue Centre in Suguta Marmar has become a sanctuary for over 90 brave girls, many of whom escaped unimaginable circumstances to pursue a simple dream to learn, to grow, and to live free. Here, they are protected, nurtured, and given the one thing every child deserves: a chance.

Through the Timeless Vision Scholars Program, the Father CK Foundation currently provides full educational sponsorship for 15 girls, with a commitment to extend this support to all who call the rescue center home. The sponsorship goes beyond school fees it covers school supplies, uniforms, personal care essentials, and emotional support throughout the academic calendar.
Stories of Strength and Survival
The girls of Suguta Marmar are not just beneficiaries they are survivors and future changemakers.
Diana Nanapu, a 20-year-old Form Three student, narrowly escaped being forced into early marriage and subjected to FGM. After the painful loss of her mother, she found refuge at the center. Today, she dreams of becoming a lawyer and a fierce advocate for girls’ rights in her community.
Then there’s Josephine Nashami, who walked for two weeks across dangerous terrain to escape her fate. Along the way, some of her friends tragically lost their lives to wild animals. Josephine’s courage brought her to the rescue center, and now, studying at Shalom Academy in Nyeri, she aspires to become a lecturer and uplift others who face similar odds.
These stories reflect the deep-rooted determination of these girls to break the cycles of oppression and poverty. They are the true face of resilience.
More Than Education: Healing and Empowerment
At the rescue center, the girls receive more than academic support. They go through counseling and trauma healing, mentorship programs, and sessions on life skills, leadership, and emotional intelligence. These are tools that not only help them process their past but also build a future full of potential and purpose.
The Missing Link: Reliable Transport
While the Father CK Foundation has made tremendous strides, a pressing challenge remains—transportation. These girls attend various schools across the region and often lack safe and reliable means to travel to and from school, especially during school openings, mid-term breaks, and hospital visits. A dedicated vehicle would not only ease logistics but also ensure the safety and consistency of their education.
