Friday of the Fourth Week of Advent

Friday of the Fourth Week of Advent

1st Reading (2nd Samuel 7:1-5, 8-12, 16)

The 1st reading is talking about King David and Prophet Nathan. In ancient times the Church and State were governed by one ruler. When God wanted the King in a state to do something, He used the prophets to pass the message to the kings.

Prophets are servants of God whom He used to foretell a particular thing in future. We see Prophet Nathan prophesying to King David to tell him that it is God who destroyed all his enemies and he will make him great in the face of the earth.

David was loved by God and in every battle, he defeated his enemies. It is in the descendants of David that Jesus is born.

One thing that makes Jesus to be born in the lineage of David is the anointing. If you are an anointed man or woman of God you can pass that supernatural blessing and favour to your children.

Pray God to anoint you today for your family, business, ministry, job, and everything you do on the land of the living.

Responsorial (Psalm 89:2-3, 4-5, 27 and 29)

The favours of the Lord are eternal to His anointed. Since this year began we have tasted and seen the faithfulness of our God.

God will deal with your local and foreign foes, those who give you sleepless nights He is going to deliver you from them. He will not let the good sons and daughters be destroyed by the wicked.

David was highly protected by God because he was so close to Him. Chose to serve, worship, praise, and proclaim the word of God in season and out of season.

Gospel (Luke 1:67-79)

We see in this gospel Zechariah the Father of John prophesying the goodness and mercies of God. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit of God you become the vessel of the most high.

Zechariah is overwhelmed with happiness because he says that Jesus Christ is coming to save us from all our enemies. We the people of God are not in fear or under the curse of the devil.

Zechariah in this gospel speaks about John when he says he shall go-ahead to prepare his way to give people knowledge of salvation. In life, we should pray to God to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to speak matters of His kingdom.
