Declare A Blessing Over Your Business: The Prayer of Jabez

Based on the following bible verses; Isaiah 2:2, Revelation 11:15 Ephesians 3:20, business owners can learn a lesson or two on how to do business with God and by constantly praying for their businesses.

The following spiritual and practical points about being a successful entrepreneur as well as a person of character is worth considering;
1. Put God first.
2. Walk by faith.
3. Be a Doer of the Word. James 1:22
4. Live a Life of Integrity.
5. Focus, Be Disciplined and Prioritize-Is this step a part of your vision? Is it a priority to accomplish your goal?
6. Have patience to endure.
7. Understand your Kingdom Purpose. If you don’t know it seek and ask the Lord to clarify it for you.

Using the Prayer of Jabez, (1 Chronicles 4:10, We can speak declarations over ourselves, our families, our community, our nation and yes over our businesses just like Jabez by using the Word of God which is not limited to the Prayer of Jabez.

Dear friend, always REMEMBER; Our ability to bless others will result from our practice of BLESSING God. David said “I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1). Those who are learning how to declare, decree, pray, confess and give verbal blessings are astonished at how powerful they really are. Spoken blessings are transforming lives of men, women and children around the world.

A spoken blessing is made up of three powerful forces:

1) Our Words,

2)God’s Word, and

3)God’s Name.

The power of our words alone is affirmed by the Scripture that states, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21). …

…. To speak well the Greek word for bless is Eulogeo. It means to “speak well of” another. The prefix eu means “good” or “well”, and logos means “a word.” To be blessed is to receive the promises of God, for “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17), and all the promises of God in him are yea, and Amen, unto the glory of God by us” (2 Corinthians 1:20). We must learn to pray and speak blessings over our family, our friends and others, our community, our ministry, our business and ourselves like Jabez. The Blessing of God was put upon the nation of Israel when God said to Abraham, ” I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make your name great; and you will be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless you, and curse them that corset you: and all the families of the earth will be blessed” (Genesis 12:2-3). In order to devise words of blessing for others, we must keep our minds focused on “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8).

To speaking a blessing to someone is to use Biblical truths to affirm what God wants to accomplish in and through that person’s life.

As we conclude our 25 Days Novena today, I challenge you to make a declaration over your life and business. Find other appropriate scriptures to declare over your business, PLEASE DO!

Write down three desires you have for your business or life and join with a prayer partner or Fr CK.  to pray over them with you. In Job it states” You shall decree a thing and it shall be established…” Job 22:28.

How’s your Christian spiritual life? Are you bored with it? Do you feel a little far from the Lord at this very moment? If you are, then this post is definitely for you. It is about improving your spiritual life growth. This is about going back to God from back sliding. Today we will be discussing the importance of praying, worshipping, reading the Bible, submitting to the authorities, writing, and meditating.

Develop the Habit of Praying

Almost all Christians pray, but only few do it right. We have to remember that praying is communicating with God. Unfortunately, there are more people who prays without communicating to God. They pray by memorization, they pray without thinking, they pray but not coming from the heart, and they pray out of obligation.

Praying is first of all giving our concerns to God. We tell Him our concerns. We give Him our needs and wants. All we need to do is to knock, seek, and call on the Lord.

Secondly, praying is listening. It is listening to what God wants. We ask yes, but what is His will for us? It is not just about giving our concerns which is more like an egoistic character of humanity. Have you ever listened to God? Sometimes, we are very good in asking what we need and want, but we are very poor in listening to God.

Third, praying is trusting God. We pray because we trust God that He answers. We pray because we believe that God can give everything as long as He wills it. We pray because we know that there is nothing impossible with God.

However, it doesn’t mean that God can provide everything He can now be our cash machine. Many people consider God as a cash machine. They thought that when they ask God, He will automatically provide for that need. But this is not actually the case. God sees what we do, and we cannot mock Him. God wants our trust and not the material desires of our hearts.

Do you have the habit of right prayer? When was the last time you prayed right?

Develop the Habit of Worship

It was said that Christianity is declining fast. And yes, it is true that people doesn’t want to go to church anymore. And to those who goes to church, they tend to get bored inside the church. But why? It is because many of them hasn’t developed the habit of worship.

Worshipping God does not only happen inside the church. It starts with your inner being, then to your home, to your work and then to the church. If we have the habit of worshipping God, we apply what the Bible says, “Everything you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

In contrast to this, our human nature will always want us to go back to where we came from. It will always desire worldly things. And this means that we need to be more careful in the way we live.

Our worldly lifestyle will always be a hindrance in our worship to God. It will always be a stumbling block of our Christian lives. It is therefore a MUST that we start learning how to worship God in spirit and in truth. Unless we learn that, our Christian lives will always be in a dragging phase.

When was the last time you worshipped God in spirit and in truth? When was the last time that you felt God is talking to you through his words as you hear the message on Sundays or read the Bible? When was the last time you felt the excitement because it is Sunday?

Develop the Habit of Reading

Of course, I am referring to the reading of your Bible. When was the last time that you read your Bible? One way to measure if you are reading your Bible is when you have the habit of bringing your Bible. Sad to say that there are lots of Christians who doesn’t bring their Bible even during Sundays. And please note that it is not even the guarantee that these individuals are reading it. All the more if they can’t even bring it.

The Holy Scriptures itself keeps on reminding us that we need to meditate on it day and night. But we can’t even read it for 1 hour. This is the reason why this habit belongs to spiritual disciplines.

By human nature, we don’t like reading. And for those who love to read, many of them love to read fictions, novels, and all other kinds of books, but not the Bible. It was said that the Bible is the bestselling book of all times, but there are really a few people who indulge themselves in reading and studying it.

However, if this laziness can be overcome, the rewards are just great. Peace of mind, encouragement, feeling of being loved and willingness to love and joy are just some of the rewards that you can ever get.

When was the last time that you read your Bible? When was the last time that you gave time studying it?

Develop the Habit of Writing

Not all are born writers. I know.  But as a Christian, simple writing and journaling will really help improving our spiritual lives. Writing your experiences of God’s love is in a way building a list of reminders to us that God is there watching us.

Writing can do many things. Not only that it can edify you from time to time, it can also help other people.

It’s a blessing when some people email you telling you that they were blessed on God’s words that you are sending them. Developing the habit of writing will surely help you and many other people in many ways.

Today, get your notebook and start writing God’s blessings that he gave you today.

Develop the Habit of Meditation

When was the last time you read your Bible with understanding? You are probably reading your Bible but just like other ordinary books, you are reading it in a passive way.

Meditation is more on reflecting the words of God and applying it in our daily lives. It is about relating our lives with those words. This habit is a little hard to do especially that our enemy is time. We are so busy for our business, for our family, for our lifestyle and what. We just “don’t” have the time to meditate. But as Christian, we need to overcome this trial.

This is why this is best done early morning where everybody is still asleep. No distractions are the key. It is just between you and God as He speaks through his words.

Meditation is basically understanding his words: “Be still and know that I am God.”

Develop the Habit of Submission

By human nature, people crave for power. Submission is always an issue to every group, even in companies, and all the more in religious sectors.

Many Christians find it hard to submit to their leaders especially when corrected. Sin can really destroy relationship between buddies in the church. If not careful, this can also destroy respect from each other.

It is therefore a must to learn the habit of submission. First is submission to God. When we understand the value of submitting to God it will not be difficult to be submitting to our leaders. Submitting to God means listening and following God’s words. It’s not about doing what we want. It is not about doing what seems nice for us. It is about doing God’s will.

In the name of Jesus, I proclaim that my purpose in establishing this business to which You have called me is to glorify You, Jehovah God. Today, I choose to set my mind and my sights on the rich, eternal treasures and joys of heaven, where Jesus sits beside You in the place of honor and power. Heaven fills my thoughts; worry about earthly things will not consume my time. I give You first place in my life (and in my business) and make a commitment to live as You want me to live, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Thank You for working in me, that I might do Your will and act according to Your good purpose. I commit myself to carry out my responsibilities without complaining or arguing, so that I may become blameless and pure, a child of God, without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which I shine like a star in the universe, as I hold out the Word of life, in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.
With all that is within me I dedicate and consecrate this business to You, expressing my love to You. I embrace Your Word, hiding it in my heart, that I might not sin against You. For the whole world system, based as it is on the desires of men, the greedy ambitions and the glamour of all that they think splendid, is not derived from You at all, but from the world itself. The world and all its passionate desires will one day disappear. But the person who is following Your will is part of the permanent and cannot die.
Blessed be Your glorious name forever; let the whole earth be filled with Your glory. Amen and amen!

(the following prayer is recommended for those who participated in the 25 days novena with the intention of establishing business. It is advisable that the prayer is said within the premises where the business will be conducted. Once the facility is blessed, the business owner can say this prayer privately).

May God give His blessing on this place. God bless it from roof to floor, from wall to wall, from end to end, from its foundation and in its covering.

In the strong name of the Triune God: all evil be banished, all disturbance cease, captive spirits freed, God’s Spirit alone dwell within these walls.

We call upon the Sacred Three to save, shield and surround this place, this day, and every day.

_In the entrance or reception room

_May all be welcome here, friend and stranger, from near and far. May each be blessed and honored as they enter.

There is a friend’s love in the gentle heart of the savior. For love of him we offer friendship and welcome every guest.

_In each room and work area

_Peace be here in the name of the king of life, the peace of Christ above all peace; the Lord’s blessing over all. _ _May God the Father be the guardian of this place and bring his peace.

May his love be shared, and his will be found here, and peace between all people. May the Spirit bring lightness and laughter here. May he be the strengthener and comforter in times of difficulty.

May the Lord give peace but never complacency. Here may encouragement be found and relationships strengthened.

Each day, every day, each going out, and each returning, the Lord bless you and keep you.

Peace between person and person; peace between all who work here; the peace of Christ above all peace; peace between friends each day and every day.

We pray for all who work here: (names). May the joy and peace of heaven be with you and around you. The Lord bless you.

_At the door

_Christ, in our coming and in our leaving, be the Door and the Keeper for us and all who work in this place, this day and every day, ever and always. Amen.

(the following prayer is only for the courageous, honest, bold and determined. If as a business owner you know that you have been engaged in unethical conduct like, refusing to pay tax, rent, refusing to pay loans etc, this is YOUR PRAYER OF REDEMPTION)

Father, I come to You today in the name of our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, Your Son.

You have placed a tremendous responsibility in my hands and entrusted me with Your business, but up until now I have not trusted You.

Your Word says that much will be expected from those to whom much is given, therefor that I am guilty.

I confess today that I have been trying to manage and control Your business according to my fleshly desires and my own emotions, and I am sorry.

I only now realise that I am accountable for every moment, sent, worker, client and everything that has been directly or indirectly involved in this business.

I have trusted the gods of wood and clay, the world’s desires was beautiful and tempted me.

This business should have carried out the image of Jesus to the outside world.

I’m tired of trying to deal with things on my own.

I might be successful in the physical world, but in the spiritual world, I have failed, the clay failed, if I had to stand before You now and give account of what You have placed in my hands, I don’t know what I will say.

I deserve the words “Depart from Me, you accursed, I do not know you”.

So I now confess all my failures and shortcomings before Thee.

Will You please forgive me, I never trusted You and I have never given You a chance and opportunity to help me manage Your business, according to Your will.

Father, I now thank You for the Blood of the Lamb, which cleansed my sin.

I now take my forgiveness, because Your Word says that I am forgiven.

I also now take back all the might, power, authority and territory that I have given unto the evil one in Your business.

I give it all back to Jesus, it was never Satan’s, but Jesus’.

Satan no more has any right in Your Company, I also now sprinkle all seeds, that I have sowed on the evil’s grounds, with the Blood of Jesus.

Let the Blood of Jesus now destroy all the seeds, that were sown outside Your will, so it shall yield no crops.

I also break all curses and bondages, which is expressed on Your business, with the Blood of Jesus.

I also take up all might and power, that Jesus gave unto me, so that this business is handled and controlled according to Your will, I now surrender myself unto the Spirit of God.

Holy Spirit, I am a weak person, with many shortcomings, will You please help me to run this business, as Your Godhead planned it before the creation of the earth.

Father, I thank You that You have opened my eyes in time and that I can now see that there is a far greater purpose for Your business, than I initially thought and knew.

May the name of our Lord and Master always be glorified on this ground and in the business.

I ask it all in Jesus name.

(after the business owner has done the above prayer, the following prayer should be done by a priest, a pastor or recognized spiritual leader. But during the closure mass, Fr. CK. Will lead in business dedication and blessing and also pray for all those who will have taken part in the novena)

Father, I come to you this morning/night, in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son.

You have placed these businesses, in the hands of Your sons and Daughters to manage for You.

On their behalf, I confess today that they are weak and vain persons and that they have no wisdom to run these businesses in Your will, therefor that they now pray for wisdom from You.

Dear brothers and sisters, I break all curses, negative words, or anything from the evil one who is trying to gain territory and ownership in Your business, in the name of Jesus.

I now sprinkle Your business, your employees, their homes and families, each client and all those directly or indirectly involved in Your business, with the Blood of Jesus.

I now take them all up under the authority and power, that You have placed on my shoulders, in the name of Jesus.

I sprinkle each product, manufactured or delivered, with the Blood of Jesus.

Satan has no power over anyone in Your service or anything manufactured by Your workers.

I ask that You will instruct Your angels to protect everyone directly or indirectly involved in Your business and also every product manufactured.

Let the name of Your Son Jesus be glorified in all this.

I now bless Your workers and their homes with health, obedience and submission to God’s Spirit.

Strangers shall stand and feed our flocks, foreigners will be our farmers and winegrowers.

We will be called priests of the Lord.

Unto us will be said “servants of our God”.

I pray that everyone that places his / her feet on Your land or do business with You, shall realize that Christ Jesus alone is in control through His Spirit, which is in His body.

We shall eat the wealth of the nations and boast in their glory.

Instead of shame, we receive a double portion.

You love justice and will give the wage to those who keep it and also make an everlasting covenant with them, but You hate robbery with injustice.

Incline my heart to Your testimonies, and not to covetousness.

Therefor that I sprinkle every transaction and every cent going in and through Your business, with the Blood of Jesus.

Satan has no right to it.

I sprinkled every wage, paid to Your workers, with the Blood of Jesus.

Satan has no right to their wages, You’re giving it to them for the work they do.

Father, you have entrusted this business in my hands so that Your plan could come into fulfillment.

I now surrender myself to the authority of God’s Spirit, so that I will be guided by You, every day and every moment, in order to handle Your business as You have planned before the creation of this world.

I bless every worker going out for work, in the name of Jesus.

Let the image they project, confess and raise Your name so that everyone who comes into contact with them shall know that Jesus Christ is in charge of this business.

Please help me to do what is right in Your eyes and that I, or this business, will never be the cause of violating the name of Jesus and His body.

I ask all this in the name of our Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Highest God.

Before we proceed, I would just like to clarify that a sacrifice and a gift are two completely different things.

For example:

  1. a)  is something that we can afford and cheerfully give to someone;
  2. b)  does not really have a big impact in a person’s life, you give something you can afford and that won’t leave a hole in your pocket;
  3. c)  is not something that will incur a great cost; it’s something you can afford to give;
  4. d)  will NEVER be the best you can give;
  5. e)  reveals your feelings, your soul dimension and it is something that comes from your hands;

  1. a)  is something that is required from you that you cannot afford;
  2. b)  is something important which you value, and usually really need;
  3. c)  ALWAYS hurts to give, it is accompanied by blood and will leave behind a wound in your life;
  4. d)  leaves you feeling raw and hurting;
  5. e)  comes from your heart and also testifies of your heart;
  6. f)  is a testimony of what is going on inside your heart;
  7. g)  speaks of how your heart feels about the situation;
  8. h)  MUST ALWAYS be the best you can give;

A Sacrifice; the offering of animal, plant, or human life or of some material possession to a deity, as in propitiation or homage.

In a sacrifice, man gives to God something of his own property; this surrender occurs through real or symbolic destruction, whereby the gift is removed from its usefulness to man. In this manner, man recognizes that God is the Lord of everything he has. This homage is worship (the act of adoration). A sacrifice may also express one’s thanks to God for His blessings and implore Him to continue His goodness.

What is the most perfect and most pleasing sacrifice that we can offer to God?

Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world, is the most perfect and most pleasing sacrifice we can offer to God.

Indeed, any other sacrifice we offer is pleasing to God only when we, being in the state of grace, offer it in union with the supreme sacrifice of His Son.

There will never be a blessing on an offering that doesn’t come from the heart.  We shouldn’t give in order to receive.  We should give because we really want to and because we love God.  God has never given us the second best of anything, we receive the best from His hands daily, new power, new strength, new wisdom, new everything!

His storehouse has nothing in it that’s old and second-hand.  He is the perfect example for us.  God expects the best from us.  He has NEVER been delighted in a flawed or a scanty offering.  In fact, He HATES it.  He always wants our best because He gave us His best and still gives His best to us every day.  Just think how you would feel if you gave someone a very expensive and precious gift for his/her birthday and on your birthday he/she gave you a trashy, second-hand gift.  You would feel anything but pleased about it.
